    PREFACE


    THE POROUS ASPHALT PAVEMENT HAS THE CHARACTERISTICS AS BELOW
    TAFPACK-Super” which is commonly called “TPS” is a modifier for high-viscosity modified asphalt used for porous asphalt mixture.  “TAF-POROUS” is the name of porous asphalt pavement which Taiyu Kensetsu Co., Ltd. will conduct and construct.  “TAF-POROUS” is a porous asphalt mixture modified by “TPS”, and it is supported with our technologies and experiences which we have acquired under the various circumstances in some countries.  “TPS” and “TAF-POROUS” help your porous asphalt pavements to be durable and sustainable.  This technical information concerns the porous asphalt mixture and porous asphalt pavements.

    DRAINAGE FUNCTION

        The most amazing features of the TAF-POROUS is drainage feature. Because of this drainage feature, the splash and spay do not occur. The driver will feel comfortable while driving on the TAF-POROUS.

    ASPHALT MIXTURE FOR TAF-POROUS

    REQUIREMENT FOR POROUS ASPHALT MIXTURE

        Porous asphalt pavement has big air void as much as 20%.  Besides, it has to endure heavy traffic loads like conventional surface mixtures can do.  Moreover, the porous asphalt pavement is easy to be subjected to the influences on water, oxidation, sunshine and so on than conventional asphalt mixture, because there are so many pores in the mixture.   TAF-POROUS copes well with the various problems as shown in Table-1:

    PRODUCTION OF TAF-POROUS

         TAF-POROUS can be easily produced at any asphalt plants by using TAFPACK –Super (TPS). Moreover, other special device is not needed. Two ways are available for adding TPS into an asphalt mixer. One is the way that TPS is added by manual power, and another is by use of automatic adding device. The points to heed are the order of adding materials, mixing temperature and mixing time. 

     

    EXECUTION OF TAF-POROUS
    The compaction way of TAF-POROUS is also almost same as conventional way.  The preferable temperature of break-down rolling is from 150 to 165 degrees C.  Also, tire roller is sometimes used for second rolling.EXECUTION OF TAF-POROUS.

    EXECUTION OF POROUS ASPHALT PAVEMENT IN VIETNAM

    * Regarding the viscosity at 60°C, its standard has been deleted from the Japanese current standard. That’s probably because the level of the viscosity is too larger than the value assumed originally. However, we think we should respect it still now, we recommend this test.

    The properties of TAF-POROUS in Vietnam are shown in Table 5. The standard of this table is for porous asphalt pavement in Vietnam.
